Shakti Yoga Teacher Training
Om-
All of our classes at Shakti Yoga, starting this September
(after Labor Day ) will have monthly focuses with several
components to better understand how Yoga and Ayurveda
can more fully impact your life. Please refer to columns
on the left to read more about September focus. We will
be offering weekly master classes and workshops (Sundays
from 11a-1p) , often with guest teachers ( see below
for descriptions of each workshop).
By having stronger organized monthly themes , consistent
across our three studios , we will achieve our goal to
help our students restore balance, establish inner peace,
and encourage greater health while learning more about
the power of Yoga. We will be offering more classes on
mediation and philosophy as well.
On Sunday October 17th, we are co- hosting a Harvest Festival
and Yogis for Food Fundraiser with several local yoga studios
and teachers. All are welcome ( see below).
What To Expect at Shakti in September :
All classes at Shakti Yoga this September will help to
mitigate the negative effects of the seasonal change. Standing
Poses help us gain stability and steadiness while developing
warmth . Spinal stabilization will be emphasized as well
as a practice centered on calming our nervous system. On
a subtle level, we will also focus on the nadis or the
imperceptible channels in our body that flow prana ( life-
force). Our Pranayama (breathing) technique will be Nadi
Shodhana ( alternate nostril breathing.)

Spinal Stability - Glenn Black Sunday,
Sept 26th 11-1:30
$35/$40 day of course
In this class suppleness will beearned through doing all
of the movements the spine has available to it. You will
also do exercises that strengthen the muscles that create
those movements. Yoga asana practice will more at ease
and stable.
A healthy spine must have both suppleness and stability.
the two go together. Suppleness means that each vertebrae
can move without hindrance. Stability suggests that the
muscles of the back and front of the body are strong and
can lend a hand no matter how flexible the articulation.
Known in the yoga community as a master teacher, Glenn
Black has an inspiring, no-nonsense style of teaching that
comes from more than 30 years of intensive study of yoga,
movement, and therapeutic bodywork. Black went to India
in 1987 to study Iyengar Yoga with B.K.S. Iyengar, and
continues to integrate the therapeutic principles of Iyengar
into his teaching. He is also a longtime student of Kriya
Yoga under Swami Satyananda of India’s Bihar School.
